EPT/ELM Test Registration
All incoming freshmen students are required to take English (EPT) and/or Mathematics (ELM) placement tests unless otherwise exempt, prior to enrolling in classes at CSUMB.

To sign up to take the placement test(s) at the Cal State Monterey campus, simply click one of the link below and complete as instructed. This site will also allow you to register to take the EPT/ELM at any CSU campus. Once you register, you will receive an email confirmation.
EPT/ELM testing info at the CSUMB campus:
Check-in begins at 8:15am. No one will be seated after testing begins at 9:00am.
9am-2:30pm. Testing end time is approximate. If you are taking one test, you should plan accordingly.
Testing will take place in the Tanimura & Antle Family Memorial Library on Divarty.
All test takers park in the Lot west of the Library (to the left of the library on the map). You are required to pay for parking on campus.
Walk-ins without a registration
You are welcome to join us but you will only be accommodated if space is available.
Paying for the test
Each test costs $18.00. $36.00 for both EPT/ELM tests. All pre-registered test takers must pay via the online registration website. Walk-ins: We only accept check or money order. No cash. Make checks payable to "ETS".
Must present a picture ID in order to gain entrance to the exams. Drivers license, school ID, membership ID card, year book picture with your name, etc.
Special Accomodation for student with disabilities
You must register for the exam and then contact our Student Disability Resources (SDR) office 2 weeks prior to the exam. SDR contact information Student_Disability_Resources@csumb.edu or 831-582-3672. Not all accomodations can be made at the CSUMB testing site. If you have any questions with regards to taking the tests at the CSUMB campus, please contact the Office of Admissions at 831-582-3738 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.

If you live outside of the state of California, have been admitted to a CSU campus and need to take the EPT and/or the ELM before arriving in California, please call 1-925-808-2142 or e-mail email@example.com.
Out-of-state testing is arranged for the 2nd week of the month, except in May, when the test is the first week. There is an additional fee of $50 for testing outside of the state of California.
¹Standardized test are only valid for three years from the date taken. Only official score reports will be used for admission, testing, placement, or credit purposes.
